Unusually warm weather for the beginning of November was ideal for hiking. Some places in northwest Croatia are always worth visiting. Ravna Gora (in translation, something like Flat Mountain because of a long flat top) is one of them.

You can hike to the top from different places, but our favorite starting point is Trakoščan, the castle, and the lake. From there, the trail leads through a beautiful forest (45 minutes), then through the village of Meljan, right below Ravna Gora (20 minutes), and up to the top (30 minutes).

The lookout point on Ravna Gora offers a beautiful view of the Trakošćan castle and surrounding hills. It is a favorite picnic spot for recreationists who stay here mostly on weekends, thanks to the mountain lodges.

It is also a beautiful spot for paragliding or alpinists practicing climbing on the rocks of the Great Cave.

Oh, by the way, we were there on a working day. Nobody around. Nice. 😊

Glažerova pećina is also a good place to visit when you are on Ravna Gora (Ravna Gora – Babice – Glažerova pećina). Nice views of Ivanščica and Strahinjščica. Anyway, Ravna Gora is always a nice place to be :)
