We were looking for a lesser-known trail on the inner side of Velebit. The search resulted in a two-hour tour to the viewpoint above Perušić. However, we did not know it was a unique destination: the only cave park in Europe. At least that’s what it says on the sign at the entrance to the park. The park’s official website is here: https://pp-grabovaca.hr/en/

It is an educational trail a little less than five kilometers long that circles around a small hill (Grabovača), on the top of which there is a lookout point. The path is excellently marked and arranged, and the inscriptions along the way are informative, and it must be admitted that they are also inspiring.

Don’t take anything but photos.
Don’t leave anything but footprints.
Don’t kill anything but time.

Since we didn’t know that the access road was well-maintained and had parking spaces for a fair number of cars and campers, we left ours at the exit from Perušić, about a kilometer from the park’s entrance. Our GPX track is, therefore, a bit longer, and you can download it from Strava.

In addition to enjoying the untouched nature and visiting the unique karst caves, at the park’s entrance, there is an herb garden and a hobbit house (in real size, they say). If you feel like it, you can go by bike or on foot to the Lika River, 4.5 kilometers away, which is a truly unique opportunity.

The circular tour of the trail takes about an hour and a half, and it is very easy to walk with breaks, so it is accessible to everyone. However, hiking boots will be helpful because this is a karst area with many sharp rocks. We recommend it! (PS There is an entrance fee of 10 euros in the park, but it is well-deserved.)
