In the eastern part of Croatia, Papuk Mountain is located in flat Slavonia. Its highest peak is not very high (953m), but nature is lovely. The hills are covered with a forest through which streams sing. Papuk is a UNESCO Geopark of Nature that is easily accessible through the Zagreb-Lipovac motorway (exit Pozega). At the entrance to the park is an excellent small Camp Duboka, and many cycling and hiking trails pass through, across, and around the hilly terrain.
A year has passed since the start of a gathering of soul-athletes and enthusiasts over the End7es Soulsport Club on Stava.
There was not enough time to organize an official meeting. Still, the four of us (Hermina and Miha from Marobore, plus Emina and Adrian) spent a pleasant day in nature, walking through the forest covered with hills.

Although the heights are not striking, we gathered over 1500m altitude difference (the path goes up and down).
We started from the entrance to Camp Duboka and headed north on the marked path that brought us to the top of the trouble (740m). Then, we continued to the famous Jankovac picnic area. The trip back was slightly different, so we did something like a “circular route” (little over five hours, 16,31 km, gpx track on Strava).

The plan was to climb to the highest peak of Papuk, which bears the same name—Papuk (953m). However, to our surprise, no visible markings led to it, so we left it for the second time.
So, yes, we certainly intend to return and “win” that top and explore other beauty of Papuk.
